Baku Engineering University (BEU) has been represented for the first time in the "QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026" announced by "Quacquarelli Symonds", one of the most reputable institutions in the field of international higher education rankings.
Aztəhsil.az reports that BEU has achieved a great success by being included in the ranking list in 2 subject categories. BEU, showing a high result (151-175 range) in the field of "Petroleum Engineering", has also achieved a successful position in the subject ranking (551-700 range) for "Economics & Econometrics". It should be noted that BEU ranks 3rd among the country's universities in the field of "Petroleum Engineering".
BEU's representation in the QS ranking of the world's best universities by subject once again proves that the higher education institution's international competitiveness has increased and it has formed a quality education and research environment in its chosen fields of study. This significant achievement is another successful result of the work carried out in connection with the main goals included in the university's Strategic Development Plan.

When preparing the "QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026", a number of key indicators are taken into account comprehensively. These include important criteria such as academic reputation, reputation among employers, citations per publication, the H-index, as well as the international research network index.
BEU has taken consistent and purposeful steps in the mentioned directions in recent years. In particular, systematic activities have been carried out to expand international relations, implement double degree programs with foreign universities, integrate into global scientific networks, develop industrial partnerships, establish close ties with the labor market, and increase graduate employment rates, as well as to apply modern teaching methods. In addition, the implementation of international accreditation for relevant specialties at BEU, the stimulation of scientific activity, the increase in the number of publications and citations in journals indexed in the Scopus database, as well as the establishment of modern research infrastructure have created conditions for progress in the QS ranking indicators. It is important to recall that BEU is ranked among the top 1000 universities in the world in the "QS Quacquarelli Symonds" ranking, and among the top 400 in Europe. At the same time, it ranks 23rd in the region in the QS University Rankings: West Asia.
These indicators and BEU's first-time inclusion in the "QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026" confirm that the continuous reforms implemented at the university are yielding real results.

It should be noted that the "QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026" is a reputable ranking list that ranks the world's leading higher education institutions in various fields of study. The ranking, which allows for an international comparison of the scientific and academic activities of universities, evaluates up to 1900 higher education institutions from more than 100 countries worldwide and over 21,000 educational programs. In the ranking, which covers 5 broad subject areas and 55 subjects, 7 universities from Azerbaijan were represented in 22 fields for the first time.
