Scientists have determined that the Earth's age is considerably older than previously thought, using the elements uranium and lead.

Aztəhsil.az reports, citing the "IFLScience" portal, that radioactive uranium transforms into lead over time, and this process allows for the accurate calculation of rock ages.

Researchers determined the formation time of rocks by analyzing the ratio of uranium and lead, particularly in zircon crystals. This method allowed for a more accurate calculation of the Earth's age.

As a result, scientists have determined that our planet's age is approximately 4.54 billion years.
