On March 12, a camp titled “Our Cities: Youth's Perspective” was opened in Guba, dedicated to the “Year of Urban Planning and Architecture”.

Aztəhsil.az reports, citing AZERTAC, that 150 students, primarily studying architecture, were involved in the camp.

With the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Youth Foundation, organized by the “Support for Youth Enlightenment” Public Union, and in partnership with “Istisu” Mineral Water Plant, the camp will last for six days.

The main objective of the project is not only to enhance young people's theoretical knowledge in urban planning and architecture, but also to develop their practical thinking, design, and teamwork skills, and at the same time, to strengthen the connection between national architectural heritage and modern urban planning approaches.

At the opening ceremony held at the Guba Olympic Sports Complex, the National Anthem was played, and official representatives of the project's partner organizations provided detailed information about the camp to the youth.

It was stated that the camp, organized within the framework of the Azerbaijan Urban Planning Campaign prior to WUF13, is being implemented through a joint initiative of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture.

It was brought to attention that today, Azerbaijani youth, who constitute a large part of our society, are among the main guarantors of the country's political stability, economic development, and national security. The state youth policy, initiated by National Leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev, has fostered a modern, patriotic, intellectual, and competitive youth.

Speakers noted that the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been contributing to the successful implementation of the state youth policy in our country for 15 years, implementing consistent and targeted initiatives that serve the comprehensive development of youth. Throughout all these years of its operation, the Youth Foundation has taken significant steps towards unleashing the potential of young people, fostering their development as active members of society, contributing to the socio-economic development of the state, and organizing the effective use of their leisure time.

In the artistic part of the opening ceremony, songs were performed and dance compositions were presented by the talented youth of the camp
