Population decline in Azerbaijan could lead to the redundancy of 50 thousand teachers.

Aztəhsil.az reports that this was stated by First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ali Ahmadov at today's session of the Milli Majlis during the discussion of the “Report on the Activities of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2025”.

“Over the past few years, a decline in the population growth rate has been observed in Azerbaijan. If this trend continues, the number of students in our schools will be approximately 1 million, which means the redundancy of 50 thousand teachers. This will affect both the economy and social policy. I believe that in 2026, the government's control over the demographic situation will increase,” Ali Ahmadov noted.
