Employees of the State Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Work with Diaspora, who are on a visit to the USA, met with a group of Azerbaijani students and youth in Boston.
Aztəhsil.az reports, citing the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, that the meeting was held at Harvard University, organized by the newly established Azerbaijani Student Society of Harvard University ("Harvard Undergraduate Azerbaijani Society-HUAS"). Students from leading US higher education institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston University, Northwestern University, and Suffolk University also participated in the event.
- During the meeting, information was provided to the youth about the projects implemented by the committee, the connections established with our compatriots living abroad, and the development prospects of diaspora activities. It was noted that the Summer Camps for Diaspora Youth, youth forums, and the "Diaspora Youth 1+1" program are important platforms for bringing young people together and exchanging ideas.
- Salhat Abbasova, head of department at the State Committee on Work with Diaspora, stated that Azerbaijan is a sacred land for every compatriot, regardless of where they live. The ideology of Azerbaijanism is a unifying principle, and our state is a pillar of support. These bonds are unbreakable, and every Azerbaijani, no matter how well they integrate into the country they reside in, must preserve their national identity and avoid assimilation.
- Students spoke about the social and academic activities of the universities they attend, their experiences in the diaspora environment, and new initiatives. It was noted that Azerbaijani Student Organizations operating in US universities strengthen cooperation among young people and make a significant contribution to the international recognition of our country's rich historical, cultural, and multicultural values.
- Ghandab Mammadova, head of the Azerbaijani Student Organization at Harvard University, invited all young people studying and graduated in Massachusetts to joint activities.
- Students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, noting that 9 Azerbaijanis are studying there, emphasized the great importance of this meeting for expanding connections among our compatriots in the USA.
Firuza and Nihad Huseynov, residents in medicine at Boston University, expressed their readiness to provide recommendations to young people on their specialties and medical insurance issues. It was also noted that there are 15 Azerbaijani students at the university and the creation of an Azerbaijani Students' Organization is planned there.
The event provided an opportunity for young people to exchange experiences, discuss opportunities for cooperation in future projects. Young people also voiced their ideas on more effective organization of diaspora activities and ways to strengthen connections.
